Fresh

Four months ago, today, the Bohemian and I pledged our love for life.

I write that line and realize, that yes, we both love life and are quite committed to that enjoyment.

Read another way, and you’ll catch the meaning of what I initially intended.  We made a commitment to our Love for a lifetime.

It seems longer than four months since we got married.  We laugh that the ‘longer’ is felt in a good way.  So close we feel, it’s as though we’ve been together many years.

I hope we get a long and vibrant life with each other.  And in that expanse of time, that we can pass through the seasons in natural simplicity.  Let the elements shape us.  Ever-deepening our love.  Sharing it with others.

Spring is in the air and garden plants hold fresh promises.  Here’s to all things new and flowering.

Back to Nature

The last two days of Archive postings have focused on my challenges with technology and my observations in how our communication platforms are shaping the way we relate with one another.

I’m pleased that my ponderings inspired some feedback from others. Looks like my dad even got a poem out of the discussion (check out Dry Crik Journal here). Thanks to all for sharing your ‘likes’ and thoughts.

There’s nothing like some nature shots to balance out the conversation.

The Bohemian (who, by the way, checks his emails about twice a week on an archaic laptop and often leaves his cell phone at home) brought me flowers. These are special, as they were the chosen variety featured at our wedding this past November.

Related to the globe amaranth, these vibrant beauties are more feather than bubble. Delicate, but hearty. I love the way they catch the light.

The farmer who grew them included some huge nasturtium leaves as accents in the bouquet. Looking at the vein pattern, words arise in my mind. “All roads lead to…”

Hmmm.

To…one?

The center?

Back to nature?

Nice to find solace in beauty. Rest in the art of living things.

Remnants

Nearly two months after our wedding day, I finally soak our whites. Work at the bright purple stains that had dropped on the Bohemian’s shirt from the surrounding java plum trees. Gently massage the dust and grass out of the hem of my dress.

Hanging to dry, side by side in our living room, they seem to have some life left inside the fabric.

This pair seems happy. Shoulders rubbing, his sleeve resting at her hip. Formal wear, yes, but these threads are relaxed. Just hanging out…but they’re ready.

Ready for what occasion, I don’t know. The Bohemian’s practical, he’ll wear that shirt again. Me, I love that dress, but I’m not sure when I’ll find an instance when I could slide it on again.

Tying up more loose ends from our wedding day. His shirt goes in the closet with everyday wear. My dress, it’s zipped up tight in its own special bag, still scented in rose and lavender sachets.

Preserving the remnants while we stitch new days. As usual, I’ll be following the Thread.
