Do the Magic

As the Bohemian guides Jeb through a series of morning stretches I’m here uploading a collage of images from the past few days.

Here on the island, the albatrosses are nesting and they soar over the lucky ones that spend time seaside along their flight path. It’s not easy to capture them as they glide through the small frame of the camera. It’s a point and shoot I’m using with the zoom on maximum. This is the best shot I got.

I’m thinking that all of the images in this post are like this. An attempt to capture a fleeting moment as it drifts through.

And here’s a snapshot now, right as I type:  In the corner of the room a man tells a child, as they circle their arms in the air, “You know Bruce Lee. He mastered his energy. And when you master the energy, you can do the magic.”

These are the moments sifting through.  The Archives are my way of practicing mastery. Trying to stay present enough to notice. Share what I experience.

Reminding myself (and maybe you) that we can do the magic.

The Joy in the Flowers He Gave Me

I swear I can smell it before I open the front door
this blooming lily
the scent
a sweet opening
filling my stairwell
it’s a miracle in progress
just waiting to be seen
sending signals
to human olfactories
just in case
we had forgotten

it has my attention
this white starburst
six curling points
ruffling in all directions
those velvet pollen tips
delicately announcing
their arrival
desire and destiny

two more buds
upon the stalk
yet to unfurl
I treasure
the unfolding
all the phases
breathe in the fragrance
of that one full flourish
and adore
those fresh shoots
promising

I get to watch them flower

Opening

There’s been a short pause in the Archives as I land back on home soil.  I’ve been taking time in the garden to stop and smell the Zinnias.

Ok, they may not have a scent but I’m in awe of their geometric grandeur.

In my absence, the Bohemian has been caring for the garden with his signature perfection.  All is growing and thriving!
