Jade is Back

It’s that time of year, when the Jade vine feathers down blooms from the treetop where it climbs. For those that follow the Archives, you know I’ve featured Jade flower love before. (Past posts include: “Jade Vine” and “Blue Jade Honey“).

It’s the same feeling I have with the shades of fuchsia coming off the Bougainvillea bush. I can take a picture of those rich hues and post them here to share, but there’s nothing like soaking in the colors, up close, and personal.

I wish, for just a moment, that we could transcend computer screens.  That you, too, could gaze upon these greens and blues… that delicate shade of purple…with bare eyes. But alas, these photos, frozen moments in film and screen, will have to do.

Jade Vine

Or Strongylodon macrobotrys.

Home of butterflies, pollinated by bats.  Closely related to kidney beans.  One of my all-time favorites.

Jeb knows I love it, gifting me this treasure pile on the console in my car.
